Make your Family Tree!!!

As we have gotten to know Isabel and Ruth and the sad story of their family breaking apart in “Chains” it helps to think about our own family trees.

Make your family tree with family members going back as far as you or your parents can remember.

Make sure to include yourself.

Use a half sheet of posterboard.

Write and/or color neatly and use pictures if possible to show the members of your family tree.

Be prepared to share with the class.

Due date is Monday, January 9th in English class. This is a project grade so be assured that it WILL impact your grade and be mindful.

Pick one of the following authors whose works we have recently read: Mark Twain, Edgar Allen Poe, or Guy de Maupassant. Write a five-paragraph essay about the author’s life. Write an introductory paragraph; write a paragraph on the author’s family life; write a paragraph about the author’s body of work and how it was viewed during their life; write a paragraph about the contributions the writer made during their lifetime; finally, write a conclusion paragraph summarizing the most important facts learned about the author. Make sure you cite the sources (where you got your information about the writer).

Crosa/ Book Project #3: Reading a Biography.
Read one of the following biographies listed: “I was a Teenage Professional Wrestler” by Ted Lewin, “Boy” by Roald Dahl, “Revolution is not a Dinner Party” by Ying Chang Compestine, or “In Defiance of Hitler: The Secret Mission of Varian Fry” by Carla Killough McClafferty.
Find ten facts that you learn from the book.
Neatly type a list entitled "Ten Facts About [book title]" that lists ten facts you learned from reading the book. The facts, written in complete sentences, must include details that you didn't know before reading the book. Make sure you use facts and NOT opinions.
This assignment is due on December 12th or 13th depending on your classes block Language Arts class. You will take a test over your chosen book on that date.

Crosa’s Class-7th grade book projects!

Students ARE required to purchase or borrow one of the books listed below for each book report due.

First book report project and test due: September 26th. Choices : The Underneath by Kathi Appelt or Girlwood by Claire Dean.

Second book report project and test due on November 4th with choices of: The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman or Secret of the Night Ponies by Joan Hiatt.

Third book report project and test due: December 12th and 13th depending on the schedule with choices of : I was a Teenage Professional Wrestler by Ted Lewin, Boy by Roald Dahl, Revolution is not a Dinner Party by Ying Chang Compestine, or In Defiance of Hitler-The Secret Mission of Varian Fry by Carla Killough McClafferty.

Fourth book report project and test due February 27th, with choices of Operation Redwood by S. Terrell French or The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall.

Fifth book report project and test due April 27th. The assigned novel choices are: The Cay by Theodore Taylor, Hatchet by Gary Paulsen or So B. It by Sarah Weeks.
